Earlier today, during a Senate hearing in the United States, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland was in high spirits while narating the destruction of Russia’s Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipelines, which were blown apart from a suspected sabotage attack on September 26, 2022.

In a live testimony to the US Senate, she is seen praising the sabotage which essentially turned NS2 into a “hunk of metal at the bottom of the sea”.

When questioned by Republican Senator, Ted Cruz, on how effective were the previous sanctions against Nord Stream 2, Nuland was seen exchanging hypotheticals with Cruz.

“Senator Cruz, like you, I am, and I think the administration is, very gratified to know that Nord Stream 2 is now, as you like to say, a hunk of metal at the bottom of the sea,” said Nuland in an unexpected remarks, with a slight smile.

Incidentally, “Gratified” is not a word how Western officials, at least Europeans, used to describe their reaction to the sabotage of the Russian gas pipelines the destruction of which has caused galloping inflation in Europe and is leading to its gradual de-industrialization.

Nuland went on to add, she had earlier pressed Russia to “prevent this war” during negotiations. However, given her apparent glee at the destruction of the Nord Stream 2 pipelines following the sabotage, there is no room for doubt as to her desire for “peace” with Moscow.

Many UN advisers, diplomats and Russia have pointed their fingers at the United States and its Allies, stating Washington, Norway stand to significantly benefit from the NS2 being disabled.
