Seismologists from Finland have detected a series of underwater explosions in the territorial waters of the Russia. This news was reported by several channels on Telegram as well as on the Russian portal 47channel.ru and Ukrainian portal Obozrevatel.

The underwater explosions in the Russian territory occurred on October 20, 2022, as per a bulletin from the Institute of Seismology of the University of Helsinki.

So far, it is not clear as to the nature of the underwater explosions, located close to the Gulf of Finland. According to Finnish seismologists, there were four explosions 40 kilometers southwest, near Primorsk.

The Finnish border is just 30 kilometers from the location of the underwater explosions, which has attracted the attention of experts.

“They have been detected and identified. These are explosion signals. At least they are not earthquakes. The seismic signal does not say who did it or why,”reads amessage from Finnish seismologists.

The seismic events were recorded by them from 12:35 to 18:32 Moscow time. At 12:35 a magnitude 2.0 tremor was recorded, at 2:02 p.m. – with a magnitude of 1.5, at 5:54 p.m. – with a magnitude of 1.5, at 6:32 p.m. – with a magnitude of 1.4. According to seismologists, events with a magnitude of around 2 are relatively rare.
