Elbit Systems has secured a $260 million contract to provide its J-MUSIC directed infrared countermeasures (DIRCM) system to Airbus’s Defence and Space division for integration into the German Air Force’s A400M transport aircraft, the Israeli company revealed on July 28.

According to the announcement, all units are scheduled for delivery within six years, following approval from the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support.

DIRCM systems are designed to protect aircraft from infrared-guided missiles, particularly those launched from the ground.

This agreement follows a previous order received by Elbit Systems Deutschland on December 23, 2024, from Lufthansa Technik to equip the German government’s Airbus A350 aircraft with the same J-MUSIC system.

Elbit notes that its DIRCM technologies are already in use on numerous military and civilian aircraft worldwide, with clients including the governments and defense sectors of Israel, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and Brazil.
