Germany’s Krauss Maffe Wegmann (KMW) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Elbit Systems Deutschland, a subsidiary of Israel’s Elbit Systems, for the modernization and expansion of the capabilities of Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS).
According to KMW, as a result of this agreement, “Elbit will provide a modern portfolio of active agents to be able to fully satisfy the needs of MLRS users, from longer-range missiles to practical munitions.” As a result, users will also be able to train in combined arms operations.
In a statement, Yehuda Vered, the CEO of Elbit Systems Land said he is happy “to work with KMW in the field of rocket artillery”. He went on to add, the deal brings together the experience of two leading companies and will develop precision missile weapons with a long range.
“It is the experience that creates a “timely synergy” at a time when there is a great demand for long range rocket systems, not only in Europe, but throughout the world.
In a statement Ralf Ketzel, the president of KMW’s board of directors said, he welcomes “with great satisfaction the cooperation with Elbit” wherein “we highlight the potential of our MLRS”.
He went on to add, the associated capability enhancements make this artillery missile system one of the most advanced in the world.
