With Russia positioning hundreds of thousands of soldiers near its border with Ukraine, much to the chagrin of NATO and the United States, the Biden Administration has stepped up efforts to buttress military aid to the former soviet state.
To this end, Washington has delivered military aid worth $ 60 million to Ukraine’s armed forces, including anti-tank weapons, ammunition, precision weapons, medical equipment, and more, said the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
“Today we received another airplane of assistance from the United States as a result of the agreements between the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden. This is a sincere, open, ambulance for our military, on the front line they will be able to use these means of medical and military support,” said Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Defense.
In a statement Colonel Brittany Stewart, Attaché for the Army and Defense of the US Embassy in Ukraine, said, “the United States of America is helping Ukraine in the development of the Armed Forces, which includes logistical assistance and training from tactical to strategic levels.”
She went on to add, Washington wants to see Ukraine on its way to NATO.
According to Nikolai Shevtsov, the head of the Main Logistics Department of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the military-technical assistance received from the United States includes high-tech and highly scarce equipment and weapons, as well as much needed ammunition for the front line.
He went on to add, the receipt of support from Washington increases Ukraine’s capabilities in counter-battery and anti-tank warfare, as well as intelligence.
“Today we received a batch of Javelin anti-tank missile systems with ammunition. We also received ammunition for the weapons that we have for NATO calibers. the number for the units of the Joint Forces Operation,” said Shevtsov.
Brigadier General Tatyana Ostashchenko, Commander of the Medsil of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said the cargo received from the United States includes personal protective equipment such as first aid kits.
